🚀 Da Nang Advances AI in Public Sector Vietnam

On July 31, the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang City hosted an in-depth training program on the application of artificial intelligence in state management and corporate governance.

📍 The event gathered 200 officials and employees from various city departments and was livestreamed to 93 commune- and ward-level locations — a clear sign of Da Nang’s commitment to embracing digital transformation across the public sector.

Two Sessions, One Goal: Accelerating AI Adoption

The training featured two focused sessions:

🔷 Application of AI in state management

🔷 Application of AI in production and business operations

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, emphasized that AI is no longer a distant concept, but a real enabler to:

⚙️ Optimize administrative workflows

⏱️ Shorten processing times

🏛️ Improve public service quality

📊 Enable data-driven policy decisions

Laura Nguyen Highlights Practical Use of AI in Public Sector Vietnam

Laura Nguyen, our Partner at GenAI Fund, served as lead trainer for the session. She highlighted how AI can create immediate, hands-on value for public servants — from document summarization and legal checks to data-informed decision-making.

She also shared real-world AI use cases across key sectors:

🏛 Government: chatbots, document automation, citizen feedback

🏥 Healthcare: disease prediction, X-ray diagnostics

🎓 Education: auto-grading, personalized tutoring

🚦 Transportation: smart traffic lights, route optimization

🌱 Environment: flood prediction, pollution monitoring

Toward a Localized and Secure AI Future

Laura proposed the establishment of a local AI Center of Excellence, inspired by models like Singapore’s — to connect academic research, local needs, and practical deployment.

She also stressed the importance of sovereign AI models to manage sensitive government data, noting that while many officials have begun exploring public AI tools for non-confidential tasks, secure, locally operated infrastructure will be essential for long-term success.
