AI Digital Transformation in Cần Thơ: GenAI Fund Partners with the City to Accelerate Innovation

A strategic cooperation to strengthen AI adoption in governance and public services

GenAI Fund has officially signed a cooperation program with the Department of Science & Technology of Cần Thơ City — the largest city in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta — marking a major step in AI digital transformation in Cần Thơ. This partnership focuses on applying Artificial Intelligence to governance, administration, and public services, aligned with Vietnam’s national strategy for innovation and digital transformation.

Key areas of cooperation

The collaboration between GenAI Fund and Cần Thơ City will cover four major pillars:

1. Advisory & Strategy

  • Building AI application models tailored for management and administrative processes.

  • Supporting the design of Cần Thơ’s AI Research Center, including strategy, pilot projects, and organizational structure.

  • Advising on the establishment of an AI Centre of Excellence to serve as a hub for advanced AI development and best practices.

2. Training & Capacity Building

  • Organizing courses on AI fundamentals, AI in public management, data governance, and AI ethics.

  • Connecting with international certification programs (AWS, NVIDIA, Microsoft, Google, and universities).

3. AI Applications

  • Surveying practical needs across city departments to develop tailored AI solutions.

  • Deploying pilots in urban management, healthcare, education, and transportation before scaling citywide.

4. Global Expertise & Networks

  • Connecting with international AI experts in public administration, healthcare, education, and transport.

  • Hosting seminars and forums to update stakeholders on global AI trends.

Implementation roadmap

The program will run from 2025 to 2030, coordinated by the Department of Science & Technology of Cần Thơ. It will be supported by the city’s annual science and technology budget.
