🚀 GenAI Fund at SDEC 2025 AI Innovation Summit
GenAI Fund Partner Kai Yong, Kang joined the AI Innovation Summit at the Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) 2025, held on October 10 at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.
In the panel “Betting on AI,” Kai shared the stage with Syed Haizam Jamalullail (The Hive Southeast Asia), Nathan Alexander (AppWorks), Shahril Ibrahim (500 Global), and Salman Ahmad (Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec)) to explore where the real AI opportunities lie — from nurturing local startups to driving enterprise-scale adoption.

Kai emphasized that the next wave of AI growth will come not from hype, but from enterprises and startups building AI together.
💡 Enterprises have the industry expertise, startups have the speed and innovation. When they build together, that’s when AI moves from pilot to production.
💡 Malaysia has the right mix — strong infra, forward-looking policies, and enterprises ready to experiment. In our recent GenAI Open Innovation Malaysia with AWS, 10 large enterprises and 25 select AI startups across ASEAN (selected from 300) come together to explore collaboration in AI, and over half are moving into AI PoCs.
💡 The next wave of AI investment in ASEAN will be enterprise-driven – more than 100 large enterprises building with AI, and many launching their own CVCs or new venture arms, and hopefully, through our help!
Looking ahead, GenAI Fund will continue to double down in Malaysia next year — helping more enterprises co-build, co-invest, and scale AI solutions that truly make it to market.
