🚀 Recap: GenAI Builders Meetup x Qwen x Chin Hin Group
It started with a webinar. It ended with a packed room.
On March 11, we hosted the GenAI Fund Expert Series featuring Qwen. The response caught us off guard — 130+ live attendees across 16 countries, tuning in to hear how open-source AI is reshaping ASEAN. The energy wasn’t just digital. People wanted in. They wanted to get their hands on these tools, ask the hard questions, and meet the people actually deploying.
A screen wasn’t going to cut it.
So we took it offline, and instead of one meetup, we launched a three-city SEA tour across Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam. When we reached out to local enterprises about hosting, the answer was immediate. They didn’t just want to attend. They wanted to open their doors.
On April 6, Chin Hin Group did exactly that.
Attendees started arriving a full hour before kickoff. By the time we began, 45+ builders, founders, and enterprise leaders had filled the room — practitioners from software, real estate, healthcare, finance, and automotive. Nobody came for surface-level networking. They came for the deep cuts.
Chin Hin Group opened the floor with something rarer than any keynote — a front-row view into how one of Malaysia’s most established conglomerates is thinking about AI from the inside. Not a polished case study. Just an honest conversation about where they are and where they’re heading.
The Qwen team followed, walking the room through Alibaba Cloud’s Cloud + AI strategy — the $53B investment into AI infrastructure, the full Tongyi model family spanning multimodal, specialized, and generative models, and what that ecosystem actually unlocks for builders in the region. Big picture, grounded in specifics.
